Job Overview

The Summer Institute is seeking a knowledgeable Writing teacher for our upcoming summer enrichment program. While building positive relationships with students, the teacher will work towards the program-wide goal of equipping motivated students with the tools they need to succeed. This teacher's tool to impart is the promotion of literary knowledge and interest via the implementation of an evidence-based curriculum. The teacher will partner with program staff and administration to create an environment of safety, respect, and caring as well as uphold the culture of learning that permeates the program.

Responsibilities and Duties

​

• Teach four sections of Writing for each of three grade levels, totaling twelve classes per week.

• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment. 

• Engage students with material that is dynamic, fun, and memorable. 

• Supervise students both on campus and during field trips.

• Evaluate and give feedback on students' academic work.

• Collaborate with colleagues in the holistic support of each student.

Qualifications

​

• Bachelor's degree in a related field. 

• Prior teaching experience.

• Teacher certification preferred.

• Ability to engage with students in a positive and uplifting manner. 

• Commitment to further the mission of The Summer Institute.
